Shimla, a city known for its scenic beauty, is currently hosting a vibrant Food Carnival at the historic Ridge Ground, captivating tourists and providing sustainable livelihoods to rural women across Himachal Pradesh. Held under India's Rural Livelihood Programme, the ten-day event showcases authentic local cuisine, drawing substantial tourist footfall.

The carnival features over 100 rural women managing stalls through self-help groups, offering handmade products and traditional foods. Central to the festival are 17 food stalls operated by more than 50 women, serving beloved hill dishes to an enthusiastic audience. Tourists nationwide applaud the event for its taste and purpose, describing the experience as both memorable and satisfying.

Rural women from all 12 districts in Himachal participate, representing various community blocks. The event, facilitated by the Himachal Pradesh Rural Livelihood Mission and organized by Sakshi Sharma, continues until December 20. Beyond cuisine, the carnival supports cultural diversity, featuring stalls with local handicrafts, enriching Shimla's tourism appeal this season.
