In a statement on Thursday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reaffirmed the state's commitment to prioritizing agriculture in the upcoming budget. Saini highlighted the integral role of agriculture in India's economy, emphasizing the need for policies that address farmers' needs and challenges.
During a pre-budget consultation at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar, experts and stakeholders from various agricultural sectors gathered to provide input. The Chief Minister, reflecting on his personal connection to farming, underscored the significance of these discussions in shaping the State Budget 2026-27.
Among the strategies discussed were legislative measures against spurious seeds, modernization of mandis, and the expansion of solar technology and livestock insurance schemes. Saini called for increased use of modern technology in farming, stressing that government policies must directly benefit farmers and adapt to modern challenges.
