In a landmark announcement, the Centre unveiled the 2026 Padma Awards on Sunday, sparking waves of gratitude and reflection among recipients of the prestigious honors. The awards, acknowledging outstanding contributions in various fields, saw many expressing a renewed resolve to continue excelling in their respective areas.

Among the honored, former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas was awarded the Padma Vibhushan 2026 for his profound impact on social affairs. He expressed delight in receiving the call from the home secretary about the award. Meanwhile, Vellappally Natesan, General Secretary of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, dedicated his Padma Bhushan 2026 award to SNDP workers, attributing the honor to their collective endeavors.

In the realm of arts, Santoor Maestro Tarun Bhattacharya, a recipient of the Padma Shri, spoke about his increased responsibilities following the award, while Dr. KK Thakral, recognized for his contributions to Ayurveda, described the award as a testament to his dedication and guiding principles. Environmentalist Kollakkayil Devaki Amma, awarded for her ecological contributions, emphasized her dedication to nature not for awards but for personal satisfaction and peace.

The President approved a total of 131 awards, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards. The list honors contributions from diverse fields, with 90 women awardees and six from overseas categories, celebrating both individual and community achievements.
