Less than a month after a devastating fire at an ONGC gas well, another crisis loomed as a gas pipeline leaked in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. The Maharatna public sector company's quick response ensured that the situation was contained within an hour.

The leak occurred when a workover rig was moved from Kesanapalli -1 to Kesanapalli - 48 cluster. ONGC's asset support manager KVK Raju disclosed that damage to a small fitting during transportation caused the leak, which resulted in approximately 500 cubic metres of gas loss.

Swift actions were taken; the pipeline was isolated, depressurized, and a faulty valve was replaced, restoring normal gas flow. The ONGC team showcased effective crisis management and technical handling of the incident.
