Manipur Congress Chief Challenges Governor's Actions in High Court

In a significant legal move, K. Meghachandra, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president, has approached the Manipur High Court challenging the actions of Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. Meghachandra alleges unconstitutional conduct by the Governor under Article 174(1) of the Indian Constitution and seeks the dissolution of the remaining term of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly under Article 174(2).
The High Court of Manipur has referred the case to its Chief Justice for a detailed examination of the constitutional aspects involved. Senior Advocate N. Bhupendra Meitei represents Meghachandra in this case, while the Union of India and other respondents are represented by Deputy Solicitor General Kh. Samarjit, supported by N. Nongdamba. The Manipur government's legal representation includes Advocate General Lenin Hijam and Deputy Government Advocate O. Raran Kumar.
The court noted that the matter concerns the interpretation of Article 174 and has directed the registry to present the file to Chief Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma. As of now, no legal notices have been issued to respondents, pending further administrative decisions regarding the case's proceedings.
