In a dramatic escalation of political tensions in Pune, the city police have initiated legal proceedings against close to 50 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, including local heavyweights like city president Dhiraj Ghate and youth leader Dushyant Mohol. These individuals stand accused of engaging in stone-pelting and vandalizing Congress Bhavan.

The confrontation comes in the wake of inflammatory comments made by Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal, who drew controversial parallels between Tipu Sultan and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The remarks sparked outrage, leading BJP leaders to mobilize in protest outside Congress Bhavan, culminating in a clash that left several Congress workers injured and property damaged.

Authorities have registered the case under multiple sections of the BNS and Maharashtra Police Act, though no arrests have been made yet. Senior officers have been tasked with collecting electronic evidence as part of the ongoing investigation, while both parties continue to exchange allegations amidst heightened police presence in the area.
