Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a significant step towards women's empowerment by transferring Rs 10,000 to the bank accounts of 25 lakh women under the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana'.
This scheme, aiming to enhance self-employment opportunities, saw a total disbursement of Rs 2,500 crore through direct benefit transfer (DBT) as announced during a function at Kumar's official residence.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2025, the scheme has already benefited 1.81 crore women, with additional financial aid of up to Rs 2 lakh planned for those utilizing the funds for business ventures.
