The National Commission for Women chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, marked International Women's Day by endorsing the 'Shakti Walk' initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD). The walk, held at Kartavya Path, intends to raise awareness about women's policies and highlight the government's achievements in enhancing women's welfare in various sectors.
Rahatkar expressed her congratulations and emphasized the importance of initiatives like the 'Shakti Walk #SheLeadsBharat' in showcasing women's contributions. Celebrated on March 8, International Women's Day serves as a global acknowledgment of women's achievements and a reaffirmation of efforts towards gender equality. The walk aims to spotlight women-led progress across sectors.
The event saw participation from around 3000 women representing different ministries, sectors, and organizations. Prominent women leaders, including Union Ministers and international representatives, led the walk. The programme included cultural presentations celebrating India's diversity and displayed key government schemes for women, promoting the message of women's central role in India's progress.
