President Droupadi Murmu attended a national event organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, marking International Women's Day in New Delhi. The gathering celebrated women's achievements across various sectors and reinforced the nation's commitment to gender equality, safety, dignity, and women's empowerment.

In her address, President Murmu emphasized women's leading roles in education, administration, military, science, and entrepreneurship, among other fields. She highlighted the rise of financial self-reliance among rural women through Self-Help Groups and their leadership in panchayats, underscoring women's potential to excel given the right opportunities.

President Murmu noted India's strides towards women-led development, citing increased gender parity in education. She mentioned initiatives like women's hostels and the SHE-Mart to support women's entrepreneurship and education. However, she acknowledged ongoing challenges, such as discrimination and violence, calling for societal change to achieve true equality. She urged for equal female participation to realize India's vision as a developed nation by 2047.
