In a move to empower women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, the Rotary Club of Chennai Legends, in collaboration with Rotary International District 3234, organized the Rotosew initiative. The project commemorated International Women's Day by donating 225 motorized sewing machines to women in the city, aiding them in launching their tailoring ventures.
The initiative included a comprehensive two-month vocational training program conducted at the Rotary Skill Development Centre, where beneficiaries learned to stitch various types of garments. The event featured prominent Rotary officials, including AKS Rtn. Er. Muruganandam M. as the Chief Guest and AKS Rtn. Vinod Saraogi as the Guest of Honour, along with other distinguished attendees.
The Rotary Club aims to make Rotosew an annual initiative and seeks Corporate Social Responsibility support to expand its impact further. Rtn. Dr. M. Durga Mohan emphasized that Rotosew goes beyond donations, offering sustainable livelihood opportunities by equipping women with practical skills and connecting them to market opportunities.
