The countdown to the 12th International Yoga Day commenced with a significant event at the New MLA Residence Complex in Gandhinagar, marking the launch of a statewide campaign by the Gujarat State Yoga Board. This campaign, led by Chairman Sheeshpal Rajput, aims to elevate yoga's prominence before the global celebration on June 21.
The initiative operates under the motto 'Ek Kadam Yogamaya Vidhan Sabha,' with numerous state MLAs in attendance. Beginning at 6 am, the inauguration signals the start of efforts to expand yoga's reach in both urban and rural regions of Gujarat. Rajput emphasized the role of India in globalizing yoga and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in establishing International Yoga Day.
In an interview with ANI, Rajput stated, 'Yoga is India's gift to the world. Our Prime Minister's endeavors led to June 21 being recognized as International Yoga Day globally, making it a source of pride for India. The Gujarat Yoga Board promotes yoga through 5 lakh trainers and 500 free classes.' He further expressed hopes of economic growth and increased employment through yoga, aspiring to make Gujarat a healthy and prosperous state.
