The Central Government has unveiled the Vibrant Villages Programme-II, a comprehensive initiative geared towards the development of 1954 villages situated near international borders. With a financial commitment of Rs 6839 crores stretching until the financial year 2028-29, this ambitious project aims to transform these border areas into dynamic centers of growth and security.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai highlighted the program's focus on enhancing livelihood opportunities, infrastructure, and connectivity in these villages. The scheme aims to address longstanding developmental disparities in regions that face unique challenges due to their geographical location. An emphasis on financial inclusion, skill development, and tourism promotion underscores the holistic approach to local empowerment.

Officials noted that Vibrant Villages Programme-II adopts a synergistic model by integrating various government schemes to maximize benefits for every household. This strategy not only aims to curb migration from border areas but also reinforces strategic national security interests by fortifying these regions. The launch of VVP-II in Assam exemplifies the central government's commitment to the Northeast as crucial to India's security and growth objectives.
