Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, has announced a record-breaking single-day coal booking of approximately 2.37 lakh tonnes under a special discount initiative aimed at reducing stockpiles.
The discount scheme, offering rate cuts of Rs 100-600 per tonne, saw strong consumer interest. The e-auction, held this week, resulted in massive uptake, particularly in the rail mode with 1.80 lakh tonnes booked across 45 rakes, while road mode bookings reached about 56,850 tonnes.
Such robust demand is anticipated to significantly support sectors like steel and other core industries. BCCL emphasized the role of its consumer-focused policies in achieving these results, highlighting the importance of coal in driving the steel sector's production activities across Jharkhand and West Bengal.
