Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharane has mandated officials to maintain sufficient stocks of urea and DAP fertilisers as the Kharif season approaches. Chairing a review meeting, Bharane stressed the need for thorough planning to prevent shortages, directing the agri-department to craft and execute strategic distribution plans.

The minister called for fertiliser companies to develop taluka-wise distribution strategies and coordinate with agricultural officers to ensure timely deliveries. A focus on limiting surplus accumulation with wholesalers and restricting inter-district fertiliser movement was underscored to maintain market equilibrium.

Bharane also highlighted the importance of promoting organic alternatives and nutrient application practices to minimize dependency on chemical inputs. Plans to employ drones for nano fertiliser spraying and efforts to foster natural farming practices across 1.81 lakh hectares reflect a holistic approach to sustainable agriculture.
