As temperatures soar across Rajasthan, hospitals in the region are taking proactive measures to cope with the expected influx of heat-related illnesses. They are setting up dedicated wards and assembling teams specifically to address these cases. Jaipur’s SMS Hospital, the state's largest government healthcare facility, has established special arrangements to provide care for individuals affected by the extreme heat.
Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal and Controller of SMS Hospital, noted that while there have been no significant cases yet, preparations are in place with designated wards and ICUs, complete with a nodal officer and a dedicated team. "We are fully equipped to handle heatstroke cases thanks to these measures," Dr. Maheshwari added.
With certain regions in North India enduring blistering conditions, such as Jaipur recording 41 degrees Celsius, residents are advised to heed safety guidelines. Avoiding peak sunlight, staying covered, and maintaining hydration are key preventive steps. The India Meteorological Department has also issued warnings for intensified heatwave conditions, particularly in parts of West Rajasthan.
