The Delhi High Court has issued a crucial interim injunction protecting the assets of deceased businessman Sunjay Kapur, amid an ongoing legal battle over his estate. The court's order prevents any creation of third-party rights over the assets, a move that has been welcomed by Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith.
Mandhira stated that this decision is beneficial for their family, especially for her mother and the children involved in the dispute. 'The next step is the forensic examination of the will. Justice has been initiated. These assets belong to my mother, and preserving them is paramount for the family's future,' she expressed to ANI.
The high-profile legal tussle involves Sunjay Kapur's children from his previous marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, who have challenged the authenticity of the will. The court has directed the filing of account statements and restrained actions on foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrencies linked to the estate. The primary responsibility now rests with Priya Kapur to address any suspicious circumstances highlighted by the petitioners.
