The Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, alongside Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, inaugurated the 'Somnath Swabhimaan Parv - Somnath Yatra' on Thursday, flagging off a train with 1,400 pilgrims from Safdarjung Railway Station. The Chief Minister hailed the event as a historic initiative, reconnecting Delhi citizens with their spiritual heritage under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

The venture marks Delhi as the first region to organize such an extensive pilgrimage. During the journey, pilgrims visit the Somnath Temple and other significant sites, with travel and meals funded by Delhi and accommodations managed by Gujarat, ensuring a seamless experience through intergovernmental cooperation.

This initiative extends beyond a religious journey, reflecting India's rich cultural heritage and identity. In her address, Chief Minister Gupta underscored the enduring impact of initiatives like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and the Somnath Yatra in reinforcing national pride. Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra emphasized the broader commitment to faith and cultural unity, with the journey symbolizing the nation's spirit and integrity.
