The Uttar Pradesh government is expediting the process of compensating farmers who have suffered losses due to adverse weather events, such as storms, fires, hailstorms, and heavy rainfall. A government statement released on Thursday outlined directives for administrative officials to remain proactive in assessing crop damage and ensuring timely relief distribution.

The statement highlighted that from 2026-27, fire incidents have resulted in crop damage over 111.134 hectares across eight districts, affecting 668 farmers, 51 of whom have received assistance totalling Rs 1,81,963. Hailstorms have impacted crop areas spanning 38,369.72 hectares in 13 districts, with 23,983 of the 1,07,104 affected farmers receiving financial aid amounting to Rs 14,92,60,448.

Additionally, unseasonal and excessive rainfall has damaged crops over 1,358.678 hectares in nine districts, affecting 3,920 farmers, with relief for 1,849 farmers totaling Rs 1,09,87,132 already disbursed. The government assures that the remaining affected farmers will receive support promptly through an expedited assessment process.
