Mexican Peso's Historic Struggle with the Dollar: Will it Break the Barrier?
The Mexican peso has been strengthening against the dollar for over a year, but consistently fails to break the crucial 200-month moving average barrier. This level is a key indicator for market trends. If the peso breaks through, it may continue to gain; otherwise, the dollar could prevail.
The Mexican peso has shown resilience against the dollar by strengthening over the past year. However, breaking past the challenging 200-month moving average remains elusive. This technical level serves as a significant marker, determining if the peso is above or below its long-term trend.
Historically, the peso has struggled to rise above this average, which currently stands at 17.0525, according to data from LSEG. Despite several attempts to surpass this figure over the year, including tests in early 2024, the peso hasn't succeeded.
Should the peso finally break this barrier, it might signal further gains against the dollar. Conversely, failure to do so could mean the dollar will maintain or even strengthen its dominance, as it has since 2006.
