C V Anand officially took charge as the Director General of Police in Telangana. He outlined his priorities, focusing on tackling cyber crimes, the drug menace, and road accidents.

Addressing the media, Anand announced plans to review the phone-tapping case involving former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and expedite the investigation's next steps. On combating Left Wing Extremism, he emphasized rehabilitation for surrendered Naxals and using AI technology in crime investigations.

Anand highlighted traffic challenges in Hyderabad, with plans for a new Traffic Management Bureau. In light of approximately 7,500 annual road accident fatalities, he aims to standardize road safety protocols across the state. Anand, previously awarded the President's Gallantry Medal, succeeds B Shivadhar Reddy and brings extensive experience in handling naxalism and urban policing.
