As the final countdown to Tamil Nadu's assembly election results began, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam leader Vijay made a significant spiritual visit on Saturday to the revered Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in Velankanni. Hundreds of eager fans and supporters assembled at the church's entrance early in the day, hoping to catch a glimpse of the charismatic former actor and witness the auspicious prayer.

The Basilica, a cherished shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, attracts thousands during its peak festivities between August 29 and September 8. Vijay's visit held strategic significance, occurring just a day before the critical counting events that will determine the fate of the 234-seat assembly, in which his party, the TVK, aims to challenge the dominance of the incumbent DMK led by MK Stalin.

Vijay faces formidable opponents in both Perumbar and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies. He contests against DMK heavyweight RD Shekar and sitting MLA Inigo Irudayaraj S, respectively. Political fraternity and exit polls suggest the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance is poised to extend its reign, overshadowing TVK's maiden electoral battle. However, projections exhibit a spectrum of possibilities, including a surprise outcome favoring the TVK as predicted by Axis My India's exit poll.
