As Assam braces for the Assembly election results on May 4, Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi remains optimistic about the Congress-led alliance's prospects, projecting a win of over 70 seats. Gogoi, speaking to reporters in Guwahati, dismissed exit poll forecasts that predict a victory for the BJP-led NDA.
Akhil Gogoi stressed the importance of safeguarding the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), directly critiquing the BJP for alleged electoral manipulation. 'We will comfortably form a government; voters demand change,' he declared, commenting on the sizeable voting numbers compared to limited sample sizes of exit polls predicting the NDA's win.
Echoing Gogoi's concerns, Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi accused the BJP and Election Commission of irregularities, alleging unauthorized BJP presence in strong rooms. The opposition questions the integrity of the electoral process, claiming that such actions undermine democracy as the NDA seeks to win not on merit but through 'theft.'
