ADB's Capital Call: Strategic Transformation for Developing Nations
Addressing ADB Annual Meetings, India's MoS Finance Pankaj Chaudhary urged ADB to enhance capital measures, adopt transformational approaches, and support sustainable regional development. Highlighting geopolitical challenges impacting development financing, he stressed coordinated responses to avoid constraints for larger developing nations and emphasized the importance of infrastructure and financial reforms.
During the ADB Annual Meetings, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary emphasized the need for the Asian Development Bank to boost capital expansion through hybrid and callable capital, ensuring development financing for larger developing nations like India remains unhampered.
Chaudhary also highlighted the importance of a transformative approach in supporting sustainable regional development amid ongoing geopolitical challenges. He pointed to interconnected issues including energy, food, and fiscal balance that necessitate stronger, coordinated responses.
India, despite such challenges, shows resilience backed by reforms. The minister called for broader access to affordable finance for infrastructure and human capital, advising meaningful reforms within ADB, such as an enhanced risk appetite and improved private sector engagement.
