A Rouse Avenue court has granted bail to Bharat Mathur, a senior executive implicated in a bribery case involving Rs 2.5 lakh. Mathur, associated with a major corporate group, was apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alongside Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) deputy DG Mudavath Devula on April 19.

Special Judge Chhavi Kapoor approved Mathur's bail after evaluating submissions from both Mathur's legal representative and the case's investigating officer. The judge noted that Mathur, who endured five days of interrogation, lacks any prior criminal history. Bail was set at a bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of the same amount.

Advocate Ashish Batra, Mathur's counsel, contended that his client's mobile phone and other devices are in CBI's possession, with no incriminating evidence found at Mathur's home. Mathur was accused alongside DGCA personnel of seeking illicit advantages for drone import file clearances, originally valued at Rs 5 lakh per application. The CBI seized Rs 2.5 lakh during the arrests, necessitating further investigation to confront the accused with collected evidence.
