In a significant move, Finland's finance ministry revealed on Thursday its decision to transfer certain shares of the power grid operator Fingrid to the financial services group OP Pohjola. This agreement ensures that while the government garners additional revenue, it continues to maintain a significant influence with a 59.5% ownership stake and a commanding 81.5% of the voting rights.

Minister of Finance Riikka Purra emphasized that the transaction allows the state to secure income while preserving its dominant stance as a major Fingrid stakeholder. The deal, involving the sale of Class B shares, amounted to 62.4 million euros, which converts to approximately $73.43 million.

The arrangement highlights the Finnish government's strategic approach to leveraging state assets, aiming to strengthen fiscal resources without forfeiting control over critical national infrastructure.
