Jharkhand's Drought Preparedness: A Strategic Approach

In a proactive move, Jharkhand officials gathered at Birsa Agricultural University in Ranchi to formulate district-wise contingency plans addressing potential drought-like conditions for the upcoming kharif season. The workshop saw agriculture officers make detailed presentations, outlining strategies for effective drought management.
Deputy Director (Statistics) of the agriculture department, Shailendra Kumar, highlighted that orders from the state's Agriculture Minister, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, emphasized comprehensive preparations at various levels, aiming to safeguard the region against adverse weather effects.
BAU Vice-Chancellor S C Dubey underscored the importance of seed distribution and nursery management, advising careful use of urea, and urging priorities on soil conservation and rainwater harvesting practices.
