Centre Boosts Farmer Confidence with Increased MSP for Kharif Crops

Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister welcomed the Centre's decision to increase Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif crops for the 2026-27 season. The move, involving Rs 2.6 lakh crore, aims to financially strengthen farmers and reinforce confidence in the agriculture sector, reflecting the government's commitment to safeguarding farmers' interests.

The Indian government has pledged significant financial support to farmers by increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif crops for the 2026-27 marketing season. Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister, K Atchannaidu, publicly praised this decision, highlighting its potential impact on farmers' financial stability and confidence in the agriculture sector.

In a historic move, the Centre has committed Rs 2.6 lakh crore towards enhancing MSP for a variety of Kharif crops, including paddy, jowar, and cotton. The increased prices promise at least a 50% profit over cultivation costs, offering assurance to farmers and improving remuneration for their efforts.

Atchannaidu commended both the central and state governments for prioritizing farmer welfare, emphasizing the Andhra Pradesh government's role in ensuring effective implementation of these measures. He expressed gratitude to the Centre, recognizing these steps as foundational for the country's development.
