Aquaculture Crisis: Political Showdown in Andhra Pradesh

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of facilitating the exploitation of aquaculture farmers by colluding with feed companies in raising prices. Reddy claims that measures initiated during the previous YSRCP regime to support aquaculture have been undermined.

The opposition leader has called for a rollback of feed price hikes and warned of protests alongside aquaculture farmers if the government fails to act. He alleges that the current administration is in league with feed companies, benefiting from 'commissions.'

The YSRCP, who governed the state from 2019 to 2024, had regulated feed quality and prices. Reddy further alleged that these safeguards were dismantled following the regime change, leading to severe farmer distress.
