General Upendra Dwivedi, the Indian Army Chief, praised Gen Z for their adaptability, social awareness, and digital skills, distinguishing them from previous generations. Speaking at an event organized by 'Uniform Unveiled' at the Manekshaw Centre, he highlighted the Army's pivot towards data-driven and technology-enhanced operations, aiming to forge a more networked force.

The Army's internship program has drawn an overwhelming response, with nearly one lakh applications for just 100 positions. General Dwivedi applauded this eager engagement, admitting that the current generation surpasses his own in several aspects, including digital fluency and global connectivity. Describing 2026-27 as a pivotal period for data-centric networking, he emphasized that the Army's modern combat environment benefits from such youthful eagerness and fresh perspectives.

General Dwivedi further stressed the Army's rapid technological adaptation, noting that advancements become obsolete within 18 months. He called for self-actualization in leadership, underscoring the need for potential realization as part of a team. Emphasizing a 'whole-of-nation' approach, he advocated for coordinated efforts across institutions and strategic guidance to ensure robust national defense readiness.
