Gadchiroli Police Strike Major Blow Against Maoists with Operation Antim Prahar

In a significant anti-Naxal operation, Gadchiroli Police have arrested eight Maoists, including high-ranking members, linked to recent violent incidents in the Phodewada forest area. The operation, yielding a substantial arms cache, marks a decisive advancement in the region’s anti-Maoist campaign.

In a landmark anti-Maoist offensive, Gadchiroli Police successfully apprehended eight individuals allegedly tied to a violent encounter earlier this year, which led to the death of a C-60 commando. The crackdown, termed "Operation Antim Prahar," represents a pivotal moment in the ongoing struggle against Maoist insurgency in the district.

Among the detained are two Divisional Committee Members (DVCMs), two Platoon Members, and four other cadres. Four of these individuals were captured in Telangana, with the rest apprehended during extensive, intelligence-driven raids across various forest areas within Gadchiroli district. Authorities disclosed that the arrested individuals were plotting further assaults on police encampments in the region.

The operation yielded a significant haul of weapons, including SLR rifles, INSAS rifles, and grenade launchers, alongside explosives, communications equipment, and more than Rs 65 lakh in cash, suspected to support Maoist activities. This significant breakthrough was executed with guidance from senior police officers, the expertise of special anti-Naxal units, and the dedication of C-60 commandos.
