Cuban Oil Crisis: Russian Support Amid U.S. Blockade
Russia is actively communicating with Cuban leadership to mitigate the effects of the U.S. oil blockade, which has led to severe fuel shortages. The last oil shipment, approximately 700,000 barrels, was delivered by the Russian tanker Anatoly Kolodkin in late March, providing only short-term relief.
Russia is engaged in ongoing discussions with Cuba's government to find solutions to the severe impact caused by the U.S. oil blockade. This blockade has significantly reduced supply, causing a drastic increase in gasoline and diesel prices.
In an effort to alleviate the situation, the Russian tanker Anatoly Kolodkin delivered a shipment of about 700,000 barrels of oil in late March. However, this supply only suffices for a couple of weeks for the island, which has a population of 10 million.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin reiterated on Monday its commitment to assisting Cuba through this energy crisis, highlighting the close diplomatic relationship between the two nations as they navigate the challenges posed by the U.S. policies.
