NTPC Surpasses 90 GW: Pioneering a Sustainable Energy Future for India

NTPC announced reaching over 90 GW in installed electricity capacity with the trial completion of Unit 2 at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam. The company's aim is to expand its capacity significantly by 2032, focusing on renewable sources, and diversifying into sectors like e-mobility and green hydrogen.

State-owned power giant NTPC has announced a milestone surpassing 90 GW in installed electricity generation capacity. This achievement comes following successful trial operations of Unit 2, an impressive 800 MW, at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, marking a stride towards a sustainable and energy-secure future for India.

Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC with a 74% stake, plays a central role in this expansion. The arm was set up in partnership with Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd, which holds 26%. The subsidiary, incorporated in 2015, is dedicated to efficient, environment-friendly power.

NTPC aims to boost its capacity to 149 GW by 2032, with a target of 60 GW from renewable sources. The company's growing energy portfolio integrates thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power, while venturing into e-mobility, battery storage, and innovative green energy solutions.
