In a momentous event on Monday, VD Satheesan assumed the role of Chief Minister of Keralam, symbolizing the return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) after a decade in opposition. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, witnessed significant attendance from political dignitaries.
Prominent figures at the event included Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who expressed optimism about Keralam's future under Satheesan's leadership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his congratulations, pledging the central government's full support to the new administration.
Witnessed by a host of senior Congress leaders and allies, the ceremony saw Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administer the oath to Satheesan and his 20-member Cabinet. The UDF's sweeping victory, securing 102 of 140 Assembly seats, underscores a significant shift in Keralam's political landscape, with Congress claiming 63 seats.
