A school headmaster in Odisha's Kendrapara district has been apprehended in a bribery scheme, according to vigilance officials.
Raghunath Das, serving as an interim headmaster, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 5,000 from a newly-appointed staff member who had not been paid since August 2025.
The staffer claimed the bribe was demanded for processing necessary payroll documents. Das was arrested, with the bribe money seized. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been lodged, and further investigations into potential disproportionate assets are ongoing.
