The High-Powered Review Board (HPRB) of the Brahmaputra Board is slated to hold its 14th meeting on Tuesday in Guwahati. The meeting aims to evaluate ongoing river basin management projects and chart a strategic guide for the Board's future initiatives. Chaired by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Paatil, the event underscores its significance.
Accompanied by notable figures such as Union Cabinet Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Choudhary, the meeting will also see attendance from other Union and State Ministers, senior officials, technical experts, and key stakeholders. Noteworthy is the recent expansion of the HPRB to include representatives from Sikkim and West Bengal.
In parallel with its transformation into a contemporary, knowledge-driven River Basin Organisation, the Board is undertaking comprehensive initiatives across the North Eastern Region and West Bengal. These encompass master plan projects, flood and erosion management, and digital innovation among others, with particular attention to performance assessments and future strategic directions.
