Two workers killed, one injured in well-boring accident in Beed

Two workers were killed and a 16-year-old boy injured in a well-boring accident in Maharashtra's Beed district after a platform snapped, causing them to fall into the well.

Two workers were killed, and a minor boy sustained injuries after they fell during well-boring work in a village in Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Saturday.

The accident occurred near Kharat Adgaon in Majalgaon tehsil on Friday evening, an official said.

The workers were standing on a swing-like platform suspended inside a well to install a horizontal-boring machine, when it snapped and plunged into the well, causing the trio to fall, he said.

Two workers died, while a 16-year-old, who was part of the team, suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Rural Hospital in Majalgaon, the official said.

Efforts are underway to retrieve the body of one of the workers, he said, adding that the police have registered a case of accidental death.
