Two minor siblings and a man were killed while four others suffered injuries when a speeding truck collided with their e-rickshaw in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, police said on Monday.

The accident occurred on Sunday night near Hatwaha village in the Matguwan police station area.

A speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit the e-rickshaw carrying seven members of a family.

Three persons, identified as Suman Adivasi (17), her younger sister Somvati Adivasi (8), and Rajkumar Adivasi, died on the spot, Matguwan police station in-charge Ankur Choubey said.

Four persons suffered injuries in the accident. Two seriously injured persons were referred to Gwalior for treatment, the official said.

The truck driver fled the scene and efforts were underway to apprehend him, he added.

Karanju Adivasi, who was injured in the accident, said he and his family were returning to their village, Hatnai, from a relative's house in Nandgaon when the incident occurred.

The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case, Choubey said.
