Lightning strikes couple in TN's Erode district

A couple was killed after being struck by lightning during rains in a village here, police said on Monday.According to police, Suresh 42 and his wife Manjula 38 of Kolappalur village near Gobichettipalayam were running a mutton stall.As there was heavy rain on Sunday evening, the couple closed their shop.

According to police, Suresh (42) and his wife Manjula (38) of Kolappalur village near Gobichettipalayam were running a mutton stall.

As there was heavy rain on Sunday evening, the couple closed their shop. When they were about to leave, lightning struck them and both of them fell unconscious. People nearby rushed them to the government hospital in Gobichettipalyam, where they were declared brought dead.

The Gobichettipalayam police have registered a case of death due to a lightning attack.
