Maharashtra govt inks pact with Aggreko India for Rs 400 cr investment in Pune
The Maharashtra government has signed a MoU with Aggreko India for a Rs 400 crore investment in Pune, expected to generate 1,000 jobs over the next 10 years.
The Maharashtra government on Monday signed an MoU with energy company Aggreko India for an investment of around Rs 400 crore in Pune over the next 10 years, which is expected to generate nearly 1,000 jobs, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said.
The facility would be Aggreko's most significant global engineering and manufacturing centre outside Scotland, officials said.
Aggreko India operates in the energy and temperature control solutions sector.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Fadnavis at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, an official release said.
''The company will receive all necessary support, along with an excellent working environment, for this project,'' Fadnavis said.
He said Pune is emerging as a major hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and welcomed Aggreko to the city.
''Pune is now becoming an important centre for Global Capability Centres, and we welcome Aggreko to this GCC capital. The company will get an excellent working environment in India, especially in Maharashtra,'' the chief minister said.
According to the agreement, Aggreko India will set up a state-of-the-art global engineering and manufacturing centre at Phulgaon in Pune district, with work on the project expected to begin later this year.
All necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, incentives and administrative support for the Pune project would be provided in accordance with existing policies, the state government said. The investment will be facilitated through the industries, energy, labour and mining departments.
The project was expected to provide a major boost to the local supply chain and help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) connect with global supply chains, officials said.
It is also expected to strengthen Maharashtra's capabilities in advanced manufacturing, energy equipment production and precision engineering, they said.
The company will focus on developing sustainable technology solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and strengthening resilience against climate change across sectors.
Aggreko has also assured cooperation in promoting sustainable energy and temperature control systems aligned with the state's climate action plan.
