In a dramatic turn of events within the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Speaker JCD Prabhakar on Tuesday refused to accept the resignation of AIADMK's Ambasamudram MLA, Esakki Subaya. The speaker cited the reason that Subaya's resignation was typed, not handwritten, and advised him to personally submit a handwritten letter.
On Monday, three AIADMK legislators — Maragatham Kumaravel, Sathyabama, and Jayakumar — formally tendered their resignations to Speaker Prabhakar. The trio subsequently met with Tamil Nadu Minister Aadhav Arjuna, revealing their intention to join Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The speaker confirmed these resignations as compliant with Assembly rules and accepted them.
The political realignments sparked controversy, with DMK leader MK Stalin accusing the maneuvers of being 'horse trading' executed at an alarming pace. In a statement, Stalin criticized TVK as a 'force of misery' and questioned Congress's alleged duplicity in supporting TVK while claiming opposition to the BJP.
