Tensions Flare Over Goat Sacrifice in Mira Road Society Ahead of Eid

A dispute erupted at Mira Road's Poonam Cluster Society over the ritual sacrifice of goats ahead of Eid ul-Adha, prompting police intervention. Discontent boiled over in Mira Road's Poonam Cluster Society as residents clashed over the introduction of goats intended for sacrifice ahead of Eid ul-Adha. In response to the uproar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Chauhan noted that a consensus was achieved to relocate the animals to a municipally designated site.

Police presence was intensified following allegations of attempts to sow fear in the majority Hindu locality. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya accused certain Muslim leaders of exacerbating tensions, demanding adherence to designated municipal sites for ritual slaughter.

Amidst allegations of deliberate intimidation, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and local law enforcement have taken measures to dismantle tensions, ensuring all sacrificial activities adhere to designated areas, restoring a semblance of peace within the community.
