Amid escalating tensions at Satellite Gardens Phase 2 in the Gokuldham area of Goregaon, Mumbai police have announced the cancellation of sacrificial rites for Eid within the colony. The move follows heated disputes between communities on Wednesday regarding plans to slaughter animals on the premises.

Senior Police Inspector Mahendra Shinde from Dindoshi Police Station confirmed that authorization for the ritual, celebrated as part of Eid-ul-Adha festivities, has been withdrawn. Officials stated the goats will be removed by Thursday to ensure peace and order.

Gokuldham's Muslim residents contend they held valid permission from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to conduct the ritual. In contrast, opponents cited concerns over public health risks and sanitation, arguing for the use of designated slaughter facilities instead. The pressing issue highlights the broader struggle between observing religious traditions and adhering to modern communal living norms.
