Seven Congress leaders from Karnataka's Kolar district, including three MLAs and two MLCs, have formally requested Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to allocate three ministerial positions to representatives from the district. Their demands include a ministerial role for Bangarpet's MLA SN Narayanaswamy under the Scheduled Caste (Right) category, and positions for Malur's MLA Nanjegowda and Kolar's MLA Manjunath under the General quota.
The group, consisting of MLAs SN Narayanaswamy, KY Nanje Gowda, and Kothur G Manjunath, MLCs Naseer Ahmed and Anil Kumar, along with V Adinarayana and former DCC President K Chandra Reddy, made this appeal amidst the leadership transition triggered by Siddaramaiah's resignation. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar is poised to assume the role of Chief Minister following this political upheaval.
In a move amplifying the cabinet's reconstruction speculations, senior Congress figure Satish Jarkiholi’s office nameplate was notably obscured, and the Karnataka government insignia was missing from his vehicle. These acts suggest possible changes, with Jarkiholi rumored to be a candidate for one of the Deputy Chief Minister positions or the KPCC presidency. Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar praised Siddaramaiah's legacy as a testament to resilience and opportunity.
