Kumar Sangakkara, the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, recently expressed disappointment regarding Sam Curran's absence from the IPL despite the player's participation in the T20 Blast for Surrey. Sangakkara emphasized the need for the BCCI to enforce stricter guidelines to ensure foreign players honor their commitments to the league.
Curran, citing a serious groin injury, withdrew from IPL earlier in the season. However, his recent appearances for Surrey have raised concerns. Sangakkara highlighted the issue as a pressing challenge for the league, demanding alignment between the BCCI and foreign cricket boards to maintain competitive balance. He iterated the existing policy, which bans players for two years if they withdraw after signing a contract. The coach also praised the adaptability of his squad in finding replacements like Dasun Shanaka, though he highlighted the importance of a robust policy to prevent such issues.
