In a planned transition, Siddaramaiah has stepped down as Karnataka's Chief Minister, marking a significant shift in the state's leadership. Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily described the transition as smooth, indicating it had been anticipated since Siddaramaiah's second term began.
Moily commended Siddaramaiah for his effective service to both the party and the state, expressing optimism that the Congress government would maintain stability under new leadership. The change was planned for 2.5 years into his term, but he continued to serve for additional months, knowing the switch was approaching.
Amid speculation over the successor, Moily asserted that the decision now rests with the Congress high command. With internal discussions concluded, the leadership will finalize the new Chief Minister. Meanwhile, leaders and cadres are urged to ensure the government's smooth functioning, paving the way confidently towards the 2028 Assembly elections.
