Businessman Arrested for Stoking Communal Tension in Himachal Pradesh

In a significant crackdown, Shimla Police have arrested a 54-year-old man from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district for allegedly distributing content aimed at inciting communal discord. Identified as Yudhveer Singh Bains, the businessman and former Congress supporter, is accused of sharing materials on social media that could destabilize public order.

The arrest follows a complaint lodged at Boileauganj Police Station about a video Bains uploaded to his Facebook account. It allegedly contained derogatory remarks against a specific religious group, spurring concerns over potential communal tension. The Himachal Pradesh Police indicated that Bains is a repeat offender, frequently posting such inflammatory content.

A detailed probe was launched based on preliminary findings and digital evidence pointing to the video's disruptive potential. Bains, previously involved in the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank loan scam and other criminal cases, alleges his arrest is a retaliatory measure after he filed a complaint against the Chief Minister with the Enforcement Directorate.
