City officials in Jaipur intensified security on Tuesday amid the Jaipur Development Authority's vigorous anti-encroachment and demolition campaign. The city's strategic plan includes a temporary internet shutdown, initiated to prevent misinformation and maintain public order by curbing the spread of rumors.
Authorities, emphasizing the necessity of the internet suspension, cited potential misuse as a threat to peace. The services were cut for 24 hours from midnight Sunday to mitigate disruptions during the operation, under directives from Jaipur Divisional Commissioner V Saravana Kumar.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Saroj Dhayal reported that the demolition targets include 10 to 12 illegal constructions obstructing a vital sector road. With no opposition evident, the operation remains peaceful, supported by the community's cooperation. The initiative aims to expand a stretch alongside the railway line, which involves the removal of five religious structures.
