Himachal Pradesh Partners with Norway for Sustainable Development
Himachal Pradesh is set to benefit from Norwegian expertise in handling Construction and Demolition waste as well as broader sustainability practices. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu engaged in discussions with Norway's Ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener, to explore collaborations in various sectors including tourism, green energy, and digital governance.

In a strategic move towards sustainable development, Himachal Pradesh is preparing to leverage Norwegian expertise in the processing and recycling of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste. This was highlighted in a statement following significant discussions held in Shimla between Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Norway's Ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener.
Beyond C&D waste management, the talks also encompassed several critical areas such as circular economy, sustainable tourism, and climate-resilient urban development. The State Government is particularly keen on embracing Norway's advanced technologies in renewable energy, digital governance, and the establishment of smart cities.
The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that both regions share a steadfast commitment to sustainable growth and environmental preservation. He invited Norwegian firms to invest in sectors like tourism and green energy, and he emphasized the state's goal to enhance its green cover and promote eco-friendly practices, including electric vehicles and chemical-free farming.
