The political landscape in West Bengal is rife with tension as the state's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) initiated a probe involving Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee. The controversy erupted following a visit by the CID to Banerjee's residence, aiming to delve into alleged malpractices.

TMC leader Madan Mitra stood by the embattled party chief, asserting her resilience against accusations of wrongdoing. "Mamata Banerjee isn't the type to run away," Mitra stated, criticizing the CID's move and affirming the party's cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tigga attributed the CID's actions to what he described as a history of indiscernible malfeasance during Banerjee's tenure as West Bengal's Chief Minister. Tigga claimed the probe stems from allegations of her involvement in scams and unlawful activities, stating "No one is above the law."

As this political and legal drama unfolds, Banerjee, currently in New Delhi, engages with Congress leaders, potentially strategizing her response. The scrutiny extends beyond Banerjee as her party, including notable member Abhishek Banerjee, grapples with allegations of forgery concerning TMC legislative documents, further agitating the state's political climate.
