Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay revealed the ambitious Kuruvai Special Package Scheme on Friday, aimed at revitalizing paddy cultivation across the state. Allocated an impressive budget of Rs 134.83 crore, the scheme promises significant benefits for both the Delta and Non-Delta districts, where paddy cultivation is crucial for Tamil Nadu's food security and provides vital support to farmers' livelihoods.
The initiative encourages increased paddy production, particularly during the essential Kuruvai, Kar, and Sornavari seasons, vital for the agricultural output from the Cauvery Delta and non-delta areas. With paddy farming spreading over 52.72 lakh acres annually, the scheme will particularly impact the major cultivation regions of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai, extending into parts of Cuddalore, Tiruchirappalli, and Ariyalur districts.
Additionally, in a move reflecting the government's profound commitment to social issues, CM Vijay inaugurated the 'Singappen Special Force' on Tuesday. This newly formed unit is dedicated to bolstering women's safety and reinforcing law and order throughout Tamil Nadu. Highlighting its significance, the Chief Minister underscored this initiative as a personal and government pledge to ensure the protection and security of every household in the state.
